About Me:
I am a battery researcher, but I like to think I’m more than that! I enjoy playing the flute, I am a good swimmer, and I love playing squash.

My pronouns are:

My Work:
I am a first-year PhD student at the University of Bristol. I study batteries to see how they fail over time. I do this with both lithium-ion and the new sodium-ion batteries. I also look into the old batteries’ effect on the environment once its time to replace them.

My Typical Day:
I wake up and I need some time before I get ready to leave to the university. I am not a morning person so I am usually in the office by 11am. I start off the working day by reading a research paper or two, then I go into the lab and start new experiments or check up on older ones. I sometimes have lunch with friends at around 2pm the I go back to the lab till about 6 or 7pm, depending on the day.

Education:
I went to three schools total during my early career. From kindergarten till fourth grade I was in Nermein Ismail School in Cairo, Egypt. Then my family moved to Kuwait and I attended the New English School from fifth grade till ninth grade. I moved back to Cairo to finish off my GCSEs and A levels from tenth grade till sixth form at Ramses College for Girls.
-
Qualifications:
I finished eight IGCSEs. Namely mathematics, English language, French as a foreign language, ICT, computer science, physics, chemistry, and biology. I would say my favourite was computer science as I had a lovely teacher that explained it really well! I then did my A-levels and I chose mathematics, chemistry, and physics. I almost did biology as well, but I attended a few classes and realised it wasn’t for me. I then joined the University of Bristol, and I recently graduated from there with an integrated masters degree in mechanical engineering.
