I moved from Kent to Bristol in 2019, and after that, I left London to relocate to Leeds two years ago. I come from Spain though 🙂 I love spending time with my friends and meeting new people which I get to do often due to work.

I love being a scientist. I had many jobs in different companies, universities, and labs but I always found work restrictions to developing my own ideas and directing the research in a way that suited me so two years ago I set up a company which is committed to the development of Bio-adhesive for a more sustainable world!

My Typical Day:
I wake up around 5:15 in the morning and I go to the gym. Gareth, my personal trainer is ready at 6 am to make me lift heavier weights than the day before. He keeps me very motivated! after that I go back home to get some on-line work done before my ket breakfast and loads of tea. On certain days I go to the lab after breakfast if not I keep on working from home until 5 or 6 pm. Nearly every day before going to bed I do a bit of personal growth by either interpreting my dreams, meditating, or reading something inspiring.

I might watch a film every now and then but I do not watch TV at all. I do not even own a TV. I only have LinkedIn as a social media platform, I am not very good at keeping that alive. I much prefer organising meetings with my friends, hiking walks, visiting different places, or being on phone calls for hours.

What I'd do with the prize money:
If I won the prize I would spend it on organising super interesting and fun work placements for a couple of students combining where they could learn from the responsibilities of a CEO in a start-up and also get some hands-on chemistry experience
-
Education:
I went to school in Spain then
I attended the University of Galway (Ireland)
and the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands -
Qualifications:
This is interesting as the school system is different.
In Spain, there are no GCSEs so going from year 11 to year 12 (if you choose to do so) does not require anything extra, it is the same as let’s say going from year 8 to year 9.
You do good at school and after passing your tests in the classroom you obtain your secondary school certificate.A-level is a bit different again, you do have to do those and unfortunately, we do not have just 3 A-levels but 6! English and Spanish and history are mandatory even if you are aiming to study Chemistry. Then the other 4 must be related to what you intend to do at uni I took Chemistry, Physics and Biology. I do not remember what I got to be honest. I know I did great in Chemistry and English but history destroyed my average score (reason why I could not get into Medicine after all)
Then I did my Bachelors in Chemistry followed by a Masters degree.
