The elephant toothpaste reaction is pretty cool – and very messy!

I also like the Esterification reaction because it produces chemicals called esters which smell fruity

I find the reactions of iron (or iron-containing rocks) with water really interesting. These should be quite simple but, the more we look at them in the real environment, the more complicated they are found to be. It is quite possible that these reactions provided the energy for the first life that existed on earth

I like pouring soda and vinegar down the drains to unblock them and watching the bubbly fizz they make together!

Reacting thermite with ice is pretty cool and produces a relatively explosive result!

I rather like sugar + water –> carbon dioxide + water + energy.
      Or in chemical terminology C6H12O6 + 6H2O –> 6CO2 + 6H2O

This is the equation for how our cells get energy from sugar. Without it we wouldn’t be alive.
      Plus I like all the 6s 🙂

I really like the belousov-zhabotinsky reaction which makes a solution alternate in colour and can create really cool patterns (it’s worth looking up). When I was in school I visited a PhD student researching this kind of reaction and it really inspired me.
