Maria Garcia answered on 8 Nov 2023:
The worst part of my job? The worst part is “to be the boss” as I am the CEO, the outcome of what people do is at the end of the day my responsibility. Not always I agree with what my staff wants to do and I struggle asking them to do something different instead. Therefore many times I just let them do what they want and when things do not work out I feel like I should have been better at explaining why their idea was not going to work in the first place. I am in a position where I want people to be happy and feel free and at the same time I have a clear vision for the business that I think people should follow. It is a tough one!!

I think the worst part of my job is having to read a lot of research about the negative impacts of climate change around the world. Sometimes I can get quite down and depressed. However, I have to remain positive and optimistic that I can make a difference, and there are so many other scientists who are also making amazing progress to protect the planet. But it can be tough!
