Octavia Brayley answered on 27 Nov 2023:
My main goal right now is to finish my PhD. I am in year two out of four! After that, I’ll either stay in academia and work at university as a lecturer and researcher, or I might move away from academia and perhaps work at a museum as a scientist and educator. I really want to not only research climate change and animals, but I want to be part of some actual change being made. I would therefore quite like to sit on a board of advisors in government to encourage the people in power to do more for the environment. I also really love teaching and working at a museum would be really cool as I’d get to be involved with creative exhibits and events to inspire more people to be interested in STEM. So I have quite a few goals and aspirations!

My main goal is to keep working, as long as I can. I like especially working with younger teams – where I have the advantage of more experience and they teach me a lot about more modern technology.
However, I hope to work a bit less as I get older – spending more time on my hobbies: writing science fiction, travelling and scuba diving. -
Ollie Thomas answered on 28 Nov 2023:
My goals are pretty simple, I want to be happy and I want to make the world a better place. Luckily being a scientist allows me to do both as I genuinely enjoy it and I’m also helping contribute to some important developments. I don’t know what I will do after my PhD let alone beyond that but so long as I can make a difference and I am happy then it’ll be good for me.

To do things which interest me and keep learning every day, because this makes me happy.
I also want to do my part in making the world a better place.
I’m very lucky that my job allows me to do all these things! -
Jonathan Allen answered on 28 Nov 2023:
My main goal is to do something that means the world is better off for me being a part of it. What I want to do is contribute something to the science and engineering world that leads to an improvement that future people will be thankful for, just like all the scientists and engineers in history who did such great things so that we have so many things we take for granted today. I hope to play a crucial role is tackling climate change so that the future world is sustainable and better off.
